Having begun chef training in my native India, I was delighted to be dispatched to Spices to check out the Indian cuisine but, I’m sorry to say, my experience was variable and I didn’t feel I got value for money. Along with my dining companion, we ordered a mixed tandoori platter to start as I particularly wanted to try the tikka grill. It consisted of pieces of hamour and mutton chops, both of which were tasty and perfectly cooked. But the chicken, which should be the easiest dish to get right, was dry when it should be juicy and tender and the prawns tasted somewhat stale – not bad but just not very fresh
